Music Theory

Levels Basic – 12 years and up Intermediate – prerequisite class: Basic Advanced – prerequisite class: Intermediate 45 minutes weekly, 10 weeks each session Basic – 3 sessions Intermediate – 2 sessions Advanced – 2 sessions min. 4 students, max. 6 students

Topics:

Basic – Notation, Intervals, Major/Minor Scales, Simple Times, Chords, Transposition, Music Analysis, Music Term, and Sign.

• Syllabus will be given out at first class. 
• Textbook:  Elementary Music Rudiments- Basic. 2nd Edition. FHM publication.

The study of theory is an important part of a complete musical education. This class is designed not only for piano students, but for all instrumental players and signers as well.

Upon completing each level, students are encouraged to take the Music Theory Examination offered by RCM/ The Music Development program.
